Job Objective: Improve the operations and efficiencies of vendor factories and drive down their costs – principally through improved labor and materials utilization. These performance improvements should result in operational improvements which will either reduce manufacturing costs or help to maintain them in the face of rising costs. Key Responsibilities 1. Know factory operations and ability to establish good relations with factory owners/managers. 2. Establish baselines/benchmarks in factories which can be used to highlight the significance of the following factors on cost and productivity/efficiency: • A continuous and constant supply of the same or similar work. • An effective production planning function. • The reduction in rework and improvement in quality and efficiency which naturally stems from the above. 3. Evaluate each area within factories and identify areas of opportunity within each. 4. Assess the value of these improvements and define the effort to achieve them. 5. Share and discuss the findings with the factory and strategize approaches to change. 6. Develop implementation plans to achieve the improvements in collaboration with factory management. 7. Possess implementation skills and be able to follow up to ensure that improvements put in place stay in place. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) • Experienced working in multi lingual factory environment for extended periods of time. Able to work well with all levels of factory personnel. • A Soft Goods manufacturing engineering background in children’s soft home products (comforters, bumpers, sheets) and infants knitted apparel which includes experience in as many of the following areas as possible: 1. Piece goods and trim receipt, QC, handling and storage; 2. Marker making, spreading, cutting, sewing; material utilization/waste elimination: 3. Embellishments – embroidery, appliqué, screen printing, etc; 4. In Process and Final Inspection – SQC 5. Finishing and Packing 6. Factory Shipping and Distribution Center Operations • An understanding of production planning, skill center factory loading and line balancing. • Ability to time study operations, develop operation work standards and implement work measurement and incentive plans. • Knowledgeable in methods to raise worker productivity and an understanding of training and able to “Train the Trainer” and facilitate the development of training programs for factory workers. • Perform Supervisor and Time Study Technician Training. • Necessary writing and verbal skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders. • PC literate - Facility with Microsoft office programs. • Ability to converse in Mandarin and English. Education A bachelors degree in a related discipline, however candidates with significant appropriate experience without a bachelors degree will also be considered..
